Whiteboard: User Administrative Account Issues last revised by 216.88.158.142 on Aug 17, 2005 3:53 am

In the xanadu world each user, or rather account, is represented as an everforking tumbler or number. Somewhere that ID has to be mapped to a username and password.

What other attributes might we want to associate with a user?

  • an email address

  • a handle or nickname

  • a fullname

  • a personal webpage URL

  • session preferences

  • multiple session preferences, grouped as named profiles so that a user can select a different one depending upon at which workstation he is working. At one he might have a large display for easy comparisons, but at another he might be using a PalmPilot.

  • an indicator of whether his identifying information should be visibly attached to his documents or that he wishes to remain anonymous.
